Hello my name is Amy Stuart. I'm the owner of Picture Perfect Takes Photography, and lead Photographer on shoots.
I have been a photographer for around 15 years. I started playing around with digital cameras as a teen and have continued to grow my passion and skills through high school and university.

I started playing around with digital cameras at the age of 12 and got my first "big camera" at 15 and continued to grow my passion and skills through high school and university.
I moved to Inuvik in 2013 and loved photographing the unique landscape and loved how the snow blanketed everything. I currently live in Yellowknife and still have a strong love for the northern landscape and primarily focus on incorporating young families into the unique northern landscape to capture memories for life.
Outside of photography I enjoy spending time with my daughter and dogs, and occasionally dabble in graphic design, volunteering with dog rescue, and tourism/promoting the north as a destination.
Growing up, my parents couldn't afford to have many professional photos of us. I don't have very many photos with my parents and siblings all in one place, let alone extended family. I don't have almost any photos of myself with my grandparents, or both of my parents as a young child, let alone stunning and framable photos I want to hang on the walls of my home. I want to ensure that doesn't happen to other families.

My gear might not be the newest or the best and I'm still learning every day to improve my technique and get better, but I aim to provide affordable photography to anyone wanting to capture life's special moments.
As a fellow mom, i understand how fast they grow. How much they change with the seasons, and i want to help you freeze this moment in time so you can remember their little hands and feet, their big smiles, and the joy they express as little ones.
Jacinta helps me out from time to time with organizing and sorting through photo sessions during busy seasons, picking all of the best shots from each session.
Jacinta is a hairstylist and virtual assistant now with a small family of her own. Her help has been greatly appreciated and I am able to get photos edited and back to you faster because of it!

For weddings and sometimes other shoots/occasions I will hire a second shooter to capture even more. Jaylene Ashley Jerome worked with me for the summer of 2024 but has since moved to Hay River. If you need a photographer in Hay River she is great. This position on the Picture Perfect Takes Team is currently vacant.
